Security Direct Polo Team Wins at Castle Howard
Security Direct polo team win Gough Trophy at Castle Howard.
This year’s Gough Trophy at Castle Howard promised to be a very special occasion, with excellent catering from the Michelin starred chef, Andrew Pern and a beautiful weather forecast. We were not disappointed! The marquee, filled with delicious food, overlooked the polo pitch with Castle Howard itself, providing a truly stunning backdrop. VIP guests had travelled from all over the country, with several parties celebrating special birthdays and other significant events. The pitch was lined with over 100 cars and people enjoying this quintessentially English day out, with sumptuous picnics accompanied by Pimms and Champagne.
The Gough Cup was played in the morning, with Six teams competing in a very close, exciting match. The nail biting final drew gasps and cheers from the crowd as Security Direct came from a goal down to win 5- 3.
The Castle Howard Cup was won for the second year running, by the Castle Howard team in an exhilarating game. Well done to all club members who took part and thank you to the hundreds of spectators, whose loud cheering was much appreciated by all the teams and spurred them onto greater things!
